IRS-authorized eFile.com tax return software caught serving JS malware
IRS-authorized eFile.com tax return software was recently caught serving malicious JavaScript malware. Security researchers have stated that the malicious JavaScript file, named 'popper.js', was present on the eFile.com website for weeks. The malicious code attempted to load JavaScript from infoamanewonliag[.]online, which is no longer up at the time of writing. The malicious code was likely used to prevent caching and load a fresh copy of the malware, should the threat actor make any changes to it.
